Details on details on details, this wedding was expertly designed and planned with countless sentimental touches by the bride and groom. Our couple, Rachael and Nathan, started their forever at the brides childhood home in Malibu, California. It was the perfect venue for this couple, celebrating their love in an intimate location that had deep meaning to them. The space was beautifully transformed into the perfect event space, so much so they have even been thinking about renting out their home as a wedding venue for other couples!
The whole event was held outdoor in the property's courtyard. The ceremony took place on the grass lawn on the back side of the house. The brides dad, who is a contractor, built in a cement platform at the end of the lawn for the ceremony to commence. One of my favorite touches was the beautiful blue iron fence that served as a ceremony arch. This fence was repurposed from the bride's grandmother's house, a sentimental touch and homage to her family. The ceremony area was decorated with aesthetic lanterns, a rustic runner carpet, and a vintage oak desk. They also hired a live violin and ukulele player for the ceremony which created a romantic and down to earth vibe. The bride and groom wrote their own vows, which were beautifully sentimental and touching. They said their I do's and guests tossed rose petals as they made their way back down the aisle. Guests then moved into the cocktail hour area which was around their pool. Standing cocktail tables were situated around the pool and charcuterie grazing boards provided by the caterer, Two Dough's Pizzeria. Serving as the bar was a Cushman they bought and repurposed, decorated with balloon garland and flowers. They added a self serve beer and wine keg into the vehicle, and one of the bride's friends was the night's bartender. Guests snacked and drank, mingling amongst themselves for cocktail hour.
Guests then made their way into the reception area, which was actually on the property's tennis court that was transformed by Lotus Event Pros. There was full tenting around the court as well as white pipe and drape to create a cleaner more elegant look. They also put down artificial turf to cover the court and create an earthy feel. Tables were beautifully decorated with gold chargers, light blue cheesecloth napkins tied off with twine and decorated with delicate lavender, and gorgeous blue goblets and wine glasses. Two rustic floral arrangements sat in the middle of each table, all of which were DIY'd by the brides mom, as well as hurricane and votive candles. Each table was named after a National park the couple had visited together in lieu of table numbers. It was a beautiful, earthy space that paid homage to the couple's adventurous nature and the time they enjoy spending outdoors together. Once guests found their seats, the newlyweds were announced for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. and they went straight into their first dance to the song Sleepwalk by Johnny & Santo. They then gave a welcome speech and guests were invited to begin dinner service. For dinner they had a pizza bar of freshly made wood fired pizzas provided by Two Dough Pizzeria. During dinner the couple's close family members and friends gave heartfelt speeches, wishing the couple a lifetime of happiness. They then did their bouquet toss and cake cutting and opened the dance floor. Guests enjoyed and danced until their feet ached, and at the end of the night the happy couple was sent off with a sparkler grand exit. It was a heartwarming day celebrating Rachael and Nathan's radiant love!
